Zine

Alright, so I read an article in a magazine today about zines. They are basically like indie mini magazines, but so much cooler. It’s just a way to express one’s self. There are many distributers who help people get their zine out. I know this doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but google it, and you may find some intersting pages that can explain it better than I can.
I’ve decided that I want to make my own zine. At this point, I am going to call it ‘Socially Incorrect’. If you don’t understand it, well, wait until it comes out and read it.
Anyway, that’s all I have to say for now. Oh, I am going to post some prospective articles for my zine soon. Tell me what you think!
Eeek!

We are leaving town in half an hour for my speech contest in Cookville tomorrow. I am freaking out!! Ahh! I am so nervous and scared that I am going to make a fool of myself.
Pray for me!
My ‘W’

May always marks a very somber time in school. We reminisce about how quickly the school year went by, yet exams can’t end fast enough. We will miss our friends and the seniors graduationg, but we are all ready for the relaxing time of summer.
Today we all went to our homerooms to receive yearbooks and awards for the year. I had no idea that freshmen could get letters (the one’s that you receive for joining a sports team or having outstanding acievements to place on your school jacket), but I didn’t think that I would be one of the ones who did when I saw the green W’s on the teachers desk. But my name was called. I have been on the honor roll all year, and that had given me the chance to say that I got my letter my freshmen year.
I’m such an over-acheiver.
P.S. If this post soinds a little scatter brained, it’s been a long day and I am tired, so my brain isn’t exactly functioning properly.

I am pretty sure that most people (unless you have been living in a bubble) have heard of the show 24. I had heard of it, but I hadn’t watched an episode until last week when my father brought home season two on DVD. A friend had recommended it and said that you can start watching in the beginning of the second season, but not after that. I finished all twenty-four episodes within three days.
It actually has a fascinating concept in that the whole show takes place within twenty four hours, each episode one hour and in real time. Many, my mother included, thought that it would be very boring with plot ruts and eight hours of just sleeping. But that’s not the case at all. There are about five different plot lines leaving very little down time, and with the threat of a nuclear bomb and WWIII, there really isn’t any sleep to be had.
But I had one of my “nerd realization” moments while watching this show. The show has two sides — the fast action and the intricate political. First of all, most fifteen year olds wouldn’t watch a show like this, but if they did, they would probably enjoy the quick sequence with a lot of hard drama and crazy gun fights. But I am more on the edge of my seat watching the drama with the president unfold. I won’t go into much detail here, because I expect everyone to go watch this, but there is some major back stabbing and deceiving in the presidential inner circle.
I really don’t know why I love this more — it may be the fact that I have to think more to understand the plot, or maybe that it is a little less gory than the other parts of the show. But I like to think that I am learning from the fictional president of this story and others so that when I am placed in a position of power I will have learned from others’ mistakes (even if they never ACTUALLY took place in reality).
